Alfa Safe Milestones

1997: Established
Advocating the best structural design paired with the highest-quality
construction for buildings that stand the test of time

  1. 1997–2008: A Decade of Refinement

Dai Yun-fa Structural Engineering Office was founded in 1997 with a vision of designing the best building structures. Gradually venturing into the construction field, we advocate that optimal structural design must be paired with high-quality construction to create buildings that stand the test of time. By directly engaging at the construction sites, discussing with vendors and workers, and thoroughly understanding rebar tying techniques and rebar inspection methods, we have integrated these insights into the reinforcement planning of structural designs. This ensures optimal constructability in structural design, earning recognition from major
construction companies. We also serve as a consultant for professional structural construction and assists in providing structural construction training for engineering personnel.

Guided by the philosophy of optimized structural design, we design buildings that are the safest, most economical and marketable for property owners while ensuring consumers purchase properties with
structurally secure foundations. Drawing on extensive experience as a construction consultant, we dedicate specialized personnel to provide construction consultancy services for individual projects, guiding property owners from the start of construction to the
handover of the property. This ensures the highest quality control for homebuyers. At the same time, we are preparing to advance the vision of the “Structural Safety Center” planning. We aim to establish and integrate an operational model aligned with Japan’s major construction companies within Taiwan’s construction industry. From the initial planning and design stage of a project, the differences between various structural systems and construction methods are thoroughly analyzed to achieve optimal design and safety value
assessments. Multiple solutions are proposed to meet architectural needs, complemented by comprehensive construction plans for cost analysis. By addressing on-site constructability from the planning stage, all construction techniques can be seamlessly executed during actual construction, ensuring superior construction quality. The success of large Japanese developers lies in their collaboration with dedicated technical research and development teams, allowing for comprehensive consideration of every aspect from design to construction while ensuring meticulous execution. This approach, known as “Japanese precision in structural engineering,” which balances design, construction and cost, is highly worth learning from.
  2. 2009: Establishment of the Structural Safety Center

The center showcases research outcomes and related models for experiments, construction and new construction techniques across ten major topics. These topics will be gradually expanded and shared
with the public. The ten topics include: research on value engineering analysis for structural design, research on the design and construction for crack prevention and waterproofing on walls and slabs, research on earthquake damage to buildings, research on geotechnical design and construction techniques, research on highrise and special buildings, research on new construction techniques and patented techniques, research on the quality of concrete, rebar and steel construction, research on rebar materials inspection technology, research on structural marketing points and corporate social responsibility and public welfare.
  3. 2010: Began R&D for the Structural Safety Systematic Techniques

Gradual applications were made for patent certificates, integrating the structural safety system techniques for rebar engineering. This involved transitioning from traditional rebar tying methods, which are challenging to execute on-site with consistent quality, to a
structural safety system that easily ensures quality during construction. The techniques have four main advantages: standardized system, efficient operations, foolproof components and standardized specifications.
  4. 2014: President Dai Yun-fa started to promote the concept of building safety to consumers and established the Building Safety Certification Association.

Structural engineer Dai Yun-fa has worked to promote the concept of building safety to consumers and educate consumers about the importance of demanding truly safe buildings from developers.
Within the construction industry, he advocates for transparency in building safety and quality and actively promotes the establishment and mplementation of building safety certificates. His efforts brought a high level of professionalism in structural safety, along with a positive reputation and influence. In September 2014, he published a book titled Choose Your Buildings: Follow Me for A Good Building That Combines Internal Strength with External Durability.
  5. 2016: One-Stop Service of Alfa Safe Earthquake-Resistant Techniques by the technical service team

The Alfa Safe Earthquake-Resistant Techniques service team, the first of its kind in Taiwan`s construction industry, integrates Taiwan’s steel production, rebar manufacturing, and processing plants to provide a seamless one-stop service. Starting with structural planning and design, the team incorporates comprehensive rebar systemization into the design. Professional automated rebar processing plants then precisely fabricate one-piece bent rebar based on structural construction drawings. The team ensures construction quality by providing pre-construction training and technical guidance for rebar ngineering. At the construction site, rebar teams only need to perform simple assembly, effectively transforming traditionally hardto-control on-site rebar work into a seamless process that achieves perfect building safety and quality akin to creating a work of art.
  6. August 2016: Publication of Choose Your Buildings: Follow Me 2: Dai Yun-fa’s Building Safety Certification Protects Your Residential Safety

Continuing to advocate for correct building safety concepts, this book introduces the idea of “doing it right the first time” in the construction industry. Starting from what consumers care about most—structural integrity and construction quality—it emphasizes the importance of building safety certificates, stressing that “what you can’t see is even more important!” Only a technical team capable of fully integrating structural design with construction quality, combined with building safety certificates, can truly ensure greater building safety.
  7. August 2018: Publication of Choose Your Buildings: Follow Me 3: Innovative Construction 4.0, Creating a New Era of Building Safety

The Greek letter “α” signifies beginnings and innovation. President Dai Yun-fa deeply believes that the best way to prevent structural safety issues is to build structurally sound buildings right from the start. Alfa Safe applies Innovative Construction 4.0 Technology to perfectly integrate structural rebar design with executable construction techniques. This ensures a mutual understanding of quality standards between structural designers and construction personnel, enabling the creation of earthquake-resistant, code-compliant buildings.

  10. 2021.08: Edited and published The Good Building Bible

A home is the most familiar and comforting place for all of us! While everyone`s needs for a home may vary, the pursuit of safety, comfort and happiness is universal.

Buying a house is a major life decision. As people increasingly seek higher living standards, housing is no longer just a shelter; it has become a symbol of quality of life. To improve living quality, a house must integrate excellent planning, construction quality, as well as elements of humanities, technology and art. Today, more highquality residences are entering the market, offering features such as smart home experiences, refined interior designs, indoor air quality control, and premium community management. These advancements provide residents with more comfortable living experiences, bringing happiness into daily life. However, the essence of a building lies in fulfilling the “residential” needs. To meet these needs, the fundamental requirements are building safety and durability. With the shift in housing types—from brick single-story houses to apartment complexes and high-rise community buildings—buildings are becoming taller and housing more people on average.
From a residential perspective, many details must be considered simultaneously to build a truly good building.

When choosing a building, consumers should focus not only on external factors like location, price and accessibility but also on the building itself, as it determines whether or not the building can support a lifetime of living. A quality building should last 50 years or even longer and the health, safety and durability of its structure are critical. The Good Building Bible summarizes five key elements of a good building, each encompassing essential criteria for a good building. It hopes to inspire developers to consider these elements during the planning and construction of new buildings. At the same time, consumers are encouraged to choose buildings that are safe, healthy and capable of lasting a century without requiring reconstruction due to urban renewal.。
  11. Taiwan Architect Publication - 50 Years of Architecture in Taiwan

*Within the history of architecture from 1971 to 2021, the Alfa Safe team, Alfa Safe Earthquake-Resistant Techniques, the Building Safety Certification and contributions by Dai Yun-fa were highlighted for their impact on the promotion of earthquake-resistant techniques in the industry.

*In terms of primary structures, the publication specifically addressed two major shortcomings in domestic RC structures and proposed solutions to improve construction quality in the industry:
1.Adopting the Rebar Systematic Construction Technique to streamline, standardize, and simplify construction operations.
2.Implementing the quality control procedure of the Taiwan Building Safety Certification ssociation.。
  12. Excellent Construction Techniques and Products Certified by the Taiwan Architecture and Building Center

●Method Name: Alfa Safe Dual-Core Column Technique

●Development Objective: To simplify construction techniques through pre-fabricated reinforcement components, effectively reducing labor and time while improving construction quality and building safety.

●Evaluation Results: Based on the submitted documentation reviewed by the Taiwan Architecture and Building Center from November to December 2021, the technique passed the evaluation conducted by the center’s committee. However, compliance with existing regulations on building techniques is required.

The construction technique system, after evaluation, has been proven to achieve the following functions according to its development objectives:
(1)Rectangular columns using this technique retain the original design’s main reinforcement configuration. The stirrups and ties from the original design are reconfigured into a one-piece stirrup system. Through one-piece rebar pre-fabrication, rebar tying techniques are simplified, improving the quality of reinforcement construction. An internal core column is added to enhance seismic resilience.
(2)A portion of the one-piece stirrups is accurately positioned first.
As the main reinforcement of each rectangular column is sequentially arranged, all one-piece stirrups for the column are fitted in place. They are tied securely according to the design`s stirrup spacing, with adjustments made after formwork assembly to ensure precise positioning of the column`s reinforcement as a whole.
(3)Tests have demonstrated that its strength and toughness surpass those of traditional RC columns. For buildings where all RC columns in the first floor (including the mezzanine floor) adopt this construction technique, seismic safety is significantly
    enhanced.
